For the 3rd year in a row, I was able attend Joshi’s tribute to manhood, OgreFest. I have to say, a good time was had by all. After a few beers I got one of those “insta-hangovers”. My head started hurting like I had been drinking all day, but after some water and getting ready for the bashing contest, I soon forgot about my headache. As a few guys were setting up for the event, one of the attendees got ahold of some fireworks and someone willingly gave him a lighter. You should have seen us move. Thankfully, no one was hurt and I even think the guys who had roman candle fireballs launched at their feet had a good time. Fireworks and alcohol, generally hilarious, but the combination of the two is not always a good idea.
The bashing contest this year was just as good as the previous years. Joshi wore his traditional kilt and came out to swing his bashing implement, a bowling ball flail. His target: a broken PC monitor. Now last year there was a lot of glass about after the contest, so this year he spread out plastic to make clean-up a little easier. After his first swing, he took a wild tumble. When he got back on his feet, he and others were up to the task of demolishing the monitor, a record player and a printer. Speaking of printers, Kirby also brought a few toner cartridges. A couple of the cartridges weren’t completely empty and created a lovely plume of black and yellow toner. Mark was behind the camera and Hocking did the commentary, a la Christopher Walken. As soon as Joshi has the video ready, I’ll have a link to it here. It’ll be worth it.
