There’s big business in super heroes these days. Seems like every year we get a couple of movies based on popular comic books. But we don’t have to wait to see our heroes on the big screen, the person sitting next to you just might be the local spandex-clad hero you’ve always wanted to meet. Luke Pie Rocker, Minneapolis pizza delivery guy and part-time super hero, saved a woman from being robbed. He heard her screaming and leaped into action. I can’t say too much about his choice of attire, but it’s nice to see that he’s out there looking after the common folk. Do you think you have what it takes to fight crime in your fair city?
It’s a bird! It’s a plane! It’s Superman! He’s returned to our big blue marble and Lex Luther, played by Kevin Spacey, is up to no good.
Yet another Marvel comic has been turned into a movie. Nicolas Cage plays Johnny Blaze in the upcoming Ghost Rider.
DC Comics’ Batwoman is in the news as well. She’s back and apparently a lesbian. Newsworthy? I’m not really sure that is worth all the hype it’s getting. I’d complain that there’s not another unique character instead of some Batman clone. Hey, whatever it takes to sell comics, right?
After seeing the latest installment of X-Men movies, I ran across X-Facts. It compares the X-Men comics to The Last Stand. It’s kinda quirky and features Wolverine and Magneto.
Want a piece of DC Comics nostalgia? On July 20th, the US Post Office will be issuing a 20 stamp set of DC Comics Super Heroes. The set will include Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman and many others.
