I decided a while back that I wanted to take a class to improve my photography. I’ve never been too happy with the pictures I’ve taken…not sure if I lacked skill, the right tools, imagination or all of the above. It was time to do something about it, so I’ve decided to take a course at the local community college. One night a week for 5 weeks. I just finished my 3rd class, so this post is a bit late.
In the first class we went over the basics. Aperture, shutter speed, film speed, etc. The instructor’s goal is to help us take better pictures with the cameras we have. I’ve had my Canon S500 for about 6 months and now I’m really finding out exactly what it can do. No, it’s more like what I can do with it.
The assignment: Patterns & Textures.
Here are the photos I submitted.
I’m really pleased with the way these turned out and I think I’m off to a good start. Well, we’ll see how it goes.
